1 116 nm pre-biased electro-optic Q-switched pulsed laser based on frequency selection and spectral filtering

Abstract
The 1116 nm pulsed laser beam with high peak power and stability has broad applications in nonlinear optical frequency conversion, atmospheric detection, and biomedical fields. In this work, a 1116 nm pulsed laser was developed based on an 808 nm pulsed laser diode (LD) side-pumped Nd:YAG crystal. By combining the selective frequency and spectral filtering of Brewster plate (BP) and birefringent crystal (BC) with transversely pressurized electro-optic Q-switching using a pre-biased MgO:LN crystal, high peak power and stable output of 1116 nm laser were achieved. As the pulse repetition frequency increased from 100 Hz to 1.0 kHz, the average power increased from 1.634 W to 9.587 W, the pulse width broadened slightly from 5.17 ns to 6.44 ns, and the peak power decreased from 3.161 MW to 1.489 MW. The peak-to-peak instability of single-pulse energy and pulse width remained within low ranges of (±0.25% to ±0.88%) and (±0.65% to ±1.97%), respectively.
